HYPERMASS - 2021

Hypermass is a series of artworks inspired by my current home: the city of Hong Kong. This project combines digital illustration, drawing, painting and fragments of collaged photographs.

Living in Hong Kong, I’m constantly amazed at how visually dynamic this city is. Every detail on every surface looks like an abstract painting. I’ve started using photography to collect these details as I explore the city and I’ve begun collaging these fragments into my artwork.

Perhaps cities can be thought of as living systems - constantly growing and changing. I think about these works as molecules that capture a part of the city.

screens - 2015

An installation created in Spring 2015 for the TASIS England Visual Art Faculty Exhibition in The Fleming Gallery. My intention in this piece was to combine a variety of approaches to drawing, painting, collage and photography. Screens is composed of technical studies, fragments of memory as well as explorations of both abstract and figurative subject matter. In addition to drawing upon my own experiences living and teaching abroad over the past few years, this piece also intends to comment on how we interact with technology, how we process overwhelming amounts of information and a fragmentation of our focus and attention.
